The Importance of Carpet Steam / Dry Cleaning for Homes and Offices

Blog | June 13th, 2017

Carpets are found everywhere in homes and offices, and, although quality carpets maintain their good appearance, even in busy homes and offices, these still need to be cleaned regularly, for good reason. Whether you own a home or manage a business, keeping your carpets clean is very important, that’s because with steam cleaning and dry cleaning you can prolong the life of carpets, and doing this regularly makes sure carpets do not become a breeding ground for molds, bacteria, germs, and insects.

Carpet Steam / Dry Cleaning for Homes and Offices is Important

Both homes and offices benefit from clean, good-looking carpets. There are two main means of effectively cleaning carpets – steam cleaning and dry cleaning. Different types of carpets require specific cleaning, as per recommendation from the manufacturers. Whether it is by vacuum cleaning and the use of chemical agents, or the use of a steam cleaning machine that sprays detergent into your carpet and then suck up the water, keeping carpets clean at all times is the best way to save money because it helps them last longer and spares you the expense of needing to replace worn carpets

Dry carpet cleaning isn’t actually ‘dry’ because there are times when moisture and chemical agents are needed to break down and remove stains, dirt and grime. It is the preferred means to clean carpets when time is limited, as dry cleaning doesn’t take as long for carpets to be used again, as opposed to steam cleaning.

Pros and Cons of Steam Cleaning and Dry Cleaning

To help make the decision to steam clean or dry clean your carpets, it is advantageous to know the pros and cons of each:

After steam cleaning your carpet with detergents you will then have to wait between 12 and 24 hours to walk on it again. While steam cleaning is an effective way to deep clean carpets, it may not be convenient all the time, especially for offices during the weekdays.
Dry cleaning offers the advantage of no drying time, and, it can be an effective means to clean common stains and dirt, by using natural cleaning agents that will not damage carpeting or the environment.
Serious ground-in stains, such as chemical stains, food stains, or pet stains may require multiple steam cleaning treatments, but it does not guarantee that such stains will be totally removed.
